warm and humid climate, and never lacks of personality because of the typical characteristic of climate diversification. Danshanchishui has always been won the favor of refined scholars. It is said that ¡° Danshanchishui¡± became famous for the County magistrate of Shangyu named Liugang in the E. Han Dynasty , who gave up his office and practiced Taoism to achieve immortality with his wife. From then on, this place which was worshiped by Taoist personages, was regarded as ¡°the 9th Cavern Under Heaven¡± of 36 Caverns Under Heaven of Taoism, named ¡°Cavern Under Heaven of Danshanchishui¡±. There is an ancient saying which goes,¡±A mountain is famous for its immortals though it is not very high, a river is famous for its dragons though it is not very deep¡±. It is unexpected that this small village has come into the favor of three emperors in the history, and has sacrificial activities from imperial commands. The most famous one was the imperial stele written by Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty himself. The style of his calligraphy is the so-called "lean gold" (shou jin), which was created by himself. Until now, there are still historic sites such as ¡°Pavilion for imperial stele¡± which used to pay tribute to the imperial stele, ¡°Ye Jinmen¡± which means all officials who goes there must get down from their houses or come out of their ¡° jiaozi¡±. |
¡°Shilingucun¡± is a typical country village in east Zhejiang Province. The word ¡°Gu¡± means old, the reason is that this village was initiated at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, and is 600 years until now. Today, there are 280 households which equals to nearly 1000 people in Shilin Village with the only family name of ¡°Shen¡±. It is a village of Shen¡¯s blood relationship. |

| They have always been inheriting the saying of ¡°Encourage Cultivation and Study¡± by their ancestors until today, which becomes a much -told story. The reclusion of the people there does not mean them isolate themselves from the rest of the world, on the other round,they are highly revered for plentiful talents among them. Shilingucun and Cavern under Heaven of Danshanchishui are at each side of a streamlet called Chishui Stream, which looks like a boundary line to make the two sides entirely different. One side is the paradise of Taoism, the other one is the world.But they also have tight relationship. If Danshanchishui displaces the natural beauty, then Shilingucun shows more humanity emotions. |
